I would add some simple syrup to the green ghost, or as I did, 1/2 an ounce of Maraschino to balance the acid. This ended up being a "last word" variation which was quite balanced. I never liked the original last word because the sweet/sour elements were way too intense for my palate, so this "green ghost" variation is quite nice.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06612400609420335545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3940010684303946553.post-65243060165517846122011-10-26T12:41:57.512-04:002011-10-26T12:41:57.512-04:00The Green Ghost still is one of my favorite gin co...The Green Ghost still is one of my favorite gin cocktails. And it still holds up after the 70+ years since it's creation (it first appears in the 1937 Cafe Royal Cocktail Book).frederichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17939679837071519844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3940010684303946553.post-60261020084236475252011-10-25T22:12:11.732-04:002011-10-25T22:12:11.732-04:00Just bought my first bottle of Green Chartreuse to...Just bought my first bottle of Green Chartreuse today, specifically to make this cocktail- can't wait to try one!Colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06385701441299910943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3940010684303946553.post-49518541149825711172008-06-21T14:48:00.000-04:002008-06-21T14:48:00.000-04:00Hmm... now I'm going to have to try my hand at a L...Hmm... now I'm going to have to try my hand at a Last Word here sometime soon. I enjoy the related Last Word (equal parts gin, green chartreuse, maraschino, and lime juice), although I've found that I need just a touch of simple syrup to smooth it out. It'll be interesting to see if I have the same reaction to the Green Ghost.dfanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16523251716744122695noreply@blogger.com
