3/4 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Pineapple Syrup
1/2 oz Falernum (Velvet)
Shake with ice, strain into rocks glass with ice, and garnish with a mint sprig (lime wheel with mint tips).

quality versus quantity does not have to be a winner-take-all proposition.

The falernum plays nicely with the tropical fruit flavors and the overproof rum dilutes it all down to drinkable proportions. Didn't have pineapple syrup so I used guava puree instead, added 1/2 oz pineapple juice, and increased the rum by 1/4 oz to compensate for the additional sweet ingredients. This makes it more tiki than was probably intended, but I'm not hearing any complaints from across the table.
