2 oz Gold Rum (Plantation Dark)
1/4 oz Fernet Branca
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
1/2 oz Cinnamon Syrup
1/4 oz Lime Juice
Shake with ice, strain into a coupe glass, and garnish with a lime wheel.
My post-shift drink two Fridays ago came by way of
Punch Drinks with a winterized Daiquiri called Davy Jones's Locker. With Fernet Branca in the mix, it reminded me of the
Dirt'n'Diesel, but drink creator Brad Farran utilized Donn's Mix (two parts grapefruit juice to one part cinnamon syrup) instead of the other drink's Cynar and demerara syrup. Once shaken and strained, the Davy Jones's Locker gave forth lime, grapefruit, and lightly menthol aromas. Next, grapefruit and caramel on the sip led into dark rum on the swallow with a cinnamon and menthol finish.
