2 oz Plymouth Gin (Bluecoat)
1/2 oz Bonal Gentiane-Quina
1/2 oz Amaro Nardini
1/4 oz Green Chartreuse
Stir with ice and strain into a coupe glass.
Two Wednesdays ago, my nightcap needs were met by a Joaquín Simo recipe from the
Death & Co. Cocktail Book. In the gin section, Simo's 2009-vintage Key Party had all of the straight spirits herbal complexity that I was seeking. Once prepared, it gave forth a mix of Green Chartreuse herbal and gin botanical aromas on the nose. Next, grape and caramel on the sip gave way to gin and Green Chartreuse notes on the swallow with a chocolate, minty, and quinine finish. Overall, the Key Party was reminiscent of a
Bijou.
