2 oz Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy
1 oz Dry Vermouth (Noilly Prat)
3/4 oz Zucca Rabarbaro (Sfumato)
2 dash Orange Bitters (Angostura Orange)
Stir with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
Two Fridays ago, I decided to make a recipe that bartender Timothy Miner of the Long Island Bar posted on his
Instagram account two days prior. His drink, the New Jersey Transit, was a riff on Phil Ward's Old Pal-like
Manhattan Transfer. Here, Tim swapped the Ramazzotti for Zucca and switched the rye for New Jersey's native spirit, Laird's Apple Brandy. Once prepared, the New Jersey Transit proffered an apple, char, herbal, and smoky bouquet to the nose. Next, apple, roast, and orange notes on the sip crossed into apple, smoke, and bitter herbal flavors on the swallow.
