1 1/2 oz High West Rendezvous Rye (Sazerac)
1/2 oz Punt e Mes
1/2 oz Amaro Nonino
Stir with ice, strain into a cocktail coupe, and garnish with a cherry.
Two Thursdays ago, I selected Brian Bartels'
The United States of Cocktails book and spied a Manhattan variation called the Angel of Tombstone. The recipe was created by Holly Booth of the High West Distillery in Park City, Utah, and the name is most likely a reference to Nellie Cashman who gained fame in the West for her charitable and compassionate acts towards miners and townsfolk in Gold Rush areas. In cocktail form, it showcased a rye, orange, and grape aroma. Next, grape and caramel on the sip dug into rye flavors along with bitter grapefruit and orange ones on the swallow.
